Towards an IPA Declaration on the Importance of Play  – IPA World

Members of IPA have increasingly expressed comments about the existing IPA Declaration of the Child’s Right to Play. It was written in 1977 in preparation for the International Year of the Child (1979). Its content reflects interests from that time and thinking has changed a little since then; research into the benefits and effects of play has been improved considerably. IPA felt it was time to update the Declaration and has asked IPA EWNI to coordinate the work. In order to do that, we have prepared a programme of work to allow us to gain views from all world branches in order to complete the task by spring 2014.
